Türkiye calls for ceasefire in Gaza Strip, two-state solution at G20 meeting
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan called on the international community to make more efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the blockaded Gaza Strip and resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on the concept of “two states for two peoples.”
The top Turkish diplomat said this while addressing participants in the G20 (Group of Twenty) meeting at the level of foreign ministers in the city of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Anadolu reports.
“The brutality in the Gaza Strip must end as soon as possible,” Fidan said.
According to diplomatic sources, Fidan spoke at a session on the topic “The role of the G20 in resolving ongoing international tensions.”
Fidan also recalled that almost two years have passed since the start of the conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. Türkiye expresses hope that the parties to the conflict will return to diplomacy and find a solution at the negotiating table, the minister noted, emphasizing Ankara’s readiness to continue taking initiatives in this direction.
The international community faces many challenges caused by global inequality and injustice, economic vulnerability, environmental problems and innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence, the head of Turkish diplomacy continued.
Fidan drew attention to the importance of global diplomacy and the development of joint G20 initiatives in all crisis areas.
Hakan Fidan called on all parties to work for global peace and security. The Minister recalled that this topic will be raised at the Antalya Diplomatic Forum (ADF) on the topic “Use of diplomacy in crisis prevention,” which will be held on March 1-3.
