“We condemn the amendment adopted in the Israeli parliament on the death penalty, which is intended to be applied exclusively to Palestinians.
This amendment, aimed at further tightening Israel’s apartheid regime against Palestinians, is another manifestation of policies of denial, destruction and political executions against the Palestinian people. It is unlawful and has no validity.
We call on the international community, primarily the United Nations, to take action against the racist and unlawful practices of the occupying power Israel,” the ministry said.
The law was approved during a plenary session of the Knesset on Monday evening, March 30. According to reports, 62 lawmakers voted in favour, 48 opposed the measure, and one abstained.
