Türkiye detains over 1,400 illegal migrants across six provinces Operation Kalkan-24 / VIDEO
Turkish Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya has said that Türkiye carried out Operation Kalkan-24 in six provinces to identify and detain illegal immigrants.
This operation, conducted during the Eid al-Adha holiday, reflects the country's ongoing commitment to combating irregular migration, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.

In his post on social network X, Minister Yerlikaya emphasized Türkiye's resolve to prevent human traffickers and irregular migrants from using the country as a target or transit route.
"We will never let organisers and irregular migrants try to turn our country into a target and transit route for irregular migration by human trafficking," he stated.
During the operation, 165 Mobile Migration Point Vehicles were deployed across 60 provinces, including 75 in Istanbul. The inspections resulted in 35,159 identity checks, leading to the detention of 1,456 irregular migrants. These individuals were handed over to the Provincial Directorates of Migration Management, where deportation procedures were initiated.
