Türkiye detains suspected ISIS media chief in border operation PHOTO
Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organisation (MİT) has detained Ahmet Kazancı, also known as "Abu Ubeyde/Abu İbrahim", in a border area, identifying him as the suspected head of the Islamic State (ISIS) media division.
Kazancı had previously travelled to the Afghanistan-Pakistan region, where he joined the group’s Khorasan branch and received training in militant camps, TRT Haber reports, citing intelligence sources.

Following the detention of his predecessor, Özgür Altun, he allegedly took charge of the organisation’s media and propaganda operations.
MİT said that after completing his training, Kazancı planned to return illegally to Türkiye to resume activities and recruit new supporters. He was detained during a special operation while attempting to enter the country.
During questioning, the suspect admitted his involvement with the organisation and provided information about its media wing and militant smuggling routes.
Turkish intelligence officials said the operation helped prevent a possible resurgence of the group’s activities inside the country and yielded important information about its structure.
