Türkiye developing most powerful domestic TEI-TF6000 engine

CEO of TUSAS Motor Sanayii AS (TEI) Faruk Aksit has said that Türkiye's most powerful engine, TEI-TF6000 turbofan engine, is planned to be created by early 2023, after which testing of the prototype will begin.

The prototype of the TEI TF6000 engine, which is planned to be used both in defence sector and in aviation, was showcased for the first time at the TEI booth during the festival, Aksit told Anadolu Agency.

“The power of this engine reaches 6,000 hp. We showcased it for the first time at TEKNOFEST in Samsun,” he said, noting that the engine development project has been going on for more than two years.

“It takes more than a year to develop prototypes of such powerful engines, but our goal is to work by early 2023 and launch it in the first quarter of 2023,” the CEO added.

Aksit noted that the TF6000 engine is the most powerful engine ever developed in Türkiye.

The TJ90 jet was developed first of all, followed by the TJ300 jet, which broke the world record in its class.

“Earlier, we developed the TS1400 engine for the domestic Gökbey multipurpose helicopter. This experience has helped us develop other engines, including the TF6000. An exhibition model is showcased today, the prototype is being produced. We hope that the next step will be the engine for the national fighter jet,” he said.
