Türkiye, Finland discuss implementation of trilateral memorandum
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has held a phone conversation with his Finnish counterpart Pekka Haavisto.
The ministers discussed the situation in Ukraine, mediation efforts and the implementation of the tripartite memorandum, Anadolu Agency reports referring to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
A trilateral memorandum was signed among Türkiye, Finland and Sweden on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Madrid, Spain on June 28. Afterwards, the process of the two countries' accession to NATO was officially launched.
Protocols should be ratified by parliaments of NATO member states in accordance with their national laws and procedures. All NATO members, after the completion of the ratification process, notify the US where the Washington Treaty is stored.
When all stages are completed, the NATO secretary general will invite new members to join NATO.
