Türkiye, Mongolia forge strategic partnership with key agreements across multiple sectors

An official signing ceremony at the Presidential Complex in Ankara wrapped up high-level talks between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, ushering in a new era of bilateral cooperation.

The key outcome of the meetings was the signing of a joint declaration establishing a strategic partnership between Türkiye and Mongolia, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.

he declaration is expected to foster closer ties across various sectors, including transport, health, education, and the environment.

Among the notable agreements, Türkiye's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, and Mongolia's Minister of Roads and Transport, Delgersaikhan Borkhuu, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the transport sector. This agreement aims to enhance bilateral transport infrastructure and facilitate greater connectivity between the two countries.

In the health sector, Türkiye’s Minister of Health, Kemal Memişoğlu, and his Mongolian counterpart, Munkhsaikhan Togtmol, formalized an agreement to strengthen collaboration in health and medical sciences, paving the way for joint research and knowledge exchange.

Education was another key focus, with the signing of an agreement between Türkiye's Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, and Mongolia's Minister of Education, Naranbayar Purevsuren. The agreement seeks to foster closer cooperation in educational initiatives, including exchange programs and academic partnerships.

Further broadening the scope of bilateral ties, the two countries signed an agreement in youth and sports, with Türkiye's Minister of Youth and Sports, Osman Aşkın Bak, and Mongolia’s Minister of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth, Nomin Chinbat, committing to collaborative projects in these fields.

In the energy sector, Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, and Mongolia’s Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry, Battsetseg Batmunkh, inked a Letter of Intent for mining cooperation, underscoring the growing interest in shared resources and infrastructure development.

Environmental cooperation also took centre stage with a MoU signed by Türkiye's Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, and Mongolia’s Minister of Environment, Odontuya Saldan. The MoU focuses on the establishment of sister parks between Türkiye's Battle of Sakarya National Historic Park and Mongolia’s Orkhon Valley National Park, alongside agreements on forestry and environmental protection initiatives.

In a push to bolster trade and competition policy, Türkiye's Competition Authority President, Birol Küle, and Mongolia’s Ambassador to Ankara, Munkhbayar Gombosuren, signed a cooperation protocol aimed at aligning both countries’ competition policies.

Finally, the signing of a cooperation protocol between Türkiye's TRT and Mongolia's MNB, the national public broadcasters, reflects the deepening media ties between the two nations.

With these comprehensive agreements, Türkiye and Mongolia aim to create a robust partnership, with significant benefits for both economies, societies, and the broader geopolitical landscape.
