Türkiye projects $3.6 billion in revenue from Zangezur Corridor over 30 years
Türkiye expects to earn 147.6 billion lira ($3.6 billion) over the next 30 years from operating its section of the Zangezur Corridor, officials say.
Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu told journalists in Iğdır that operational revenues are projected to reach 135 billion lira ($3.29 billion), with additional gains of 3 billion lira ($73 million) from reduced accidents, 2.1 billion lira ($51 million) from climate benefits, 3.5 billion lira ($85 million) from time savings, and 4 billion lira ($98 million) from lower road maintenance costs, bringing the total expected revenue to 147.6 billion lira ($3.6 billion), Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
The minister noted that the revenues from the corridor are expected to more than cover the investments made in constructing Türkiye’s section of the route, which includes the Kars–Iğdır–Aralık–Dilucu railway.
Uraloğlu also described the corridor as strategically significant for the wider region, emphasising that it would support the Middle Corridor and substantially reduce travel times compared to maritime transport. He added that the route would serve as the shortest connection between Türkiye, other Turkic states, and the Far East.
