Türkiye refuses to support Sweden's NATO bid

The Turkish authorities continue adhering to the open door policy of the North Atlantic Alliance, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

Despite this, Ankara is still unable to give its final support to Sweden's accession to the bloc, TASS quoted him as saying.

"We supported NATO's open door policy. We approved of Finland's membership. But we cannot approve of those who welcome terrorists. We expect Sweden to honour its commitments," Erdogan explained.

He added that the situation around the kingdom will be discussed at the NATO summit to be held in Lithuania in July.
