Media: Armenia demolishes Yerkrap terrorist group leader’s old houses
In Armenia, several old houses belonging to former MP and Yerkrap terrorist group leader Sasun Mikayelyan have been demolished, Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan announced.
However, the Harsnaqar complex, owned by former Football Federation president Ruben Hayrapetyan, and the hotel belonging to former police chief Vladimir Gasparyan will not be demolished, Caliber.Az reports, citing the newspaper Zhoghovurd.
Earlier, Vardapetyan stated that the Harsnaqar complex, the private houses of former police chief Vladimir Gasparyan, and Sasun Mikayelyan, the leader of the Yerkrap terror organisation and godson of former Constitutional Court head Norayr Panosyan, would be confiscated by the state.
She suggested considering whether some of the structures should be demolished. The decision covered 23 real estate objects along the shore of Lake Sevan.
The newspaper reports that only a few dilapidated houses belonging to former MP Sasun Mikayelyan, along with other unsightly buildings, were demolished. It adds that the larger properties mentioned by Anna Vardapetyan—the mansion of Gasparyan and Hayrapetyan’s Harsnaqar complex—will not be fully demolished, with only 2–3 cottages within Harsnaqar scheduled for dismantling.
According to the publication’s sources, different scenarios are being discussed for the main building of Harsnaqar: nationalisation, use for other purposes, or sale. Following the same logic, Gasparyan’s mansion will also be nationalised and converted into a children’s or educational centre.
