Türkiye’s intel chief meets Hamas delegation in Ankara over Gaza ceasefire
The head of Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organisation (MİT), İbrahim Kalın, has held talks in Ankara with a Hamas delegation to discuss the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, according to security sources.
The meeting brought together Kalın, Hamas Shura Council President Muhammad Darwish, and members of the group’s political bureau, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
Discussions focused on developments surrounding the ceasefire framework and conditions on the ground in Gaza.
According to the same sources, the Hamas delegation said it had adhered to ceasefire provisions and raised concerns over violations by Israel. The group also briefed Kalın on Israeli military strikes carried out across the Gaza Strip during the Eid al-Adha period.
Türkiye’s role as a guarantor of the ceasefire was highlighted during the talks, with both sides reviewing efforts aimed at ensuring the agreement is implemented and sustained. Participants also examined possible steps to prevent further breaches and to support the continuation of negotiations.
Humanitarian conditions in Gaza were also discussed, including Türkiye’s ongoing aid deliveries to the territory. The talks addressed coordination with regional states and international organisations to expand the flow of assistance.
The Hamas delegation expressed appreciation to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for Türkiye’s diplomatic and humanitarian efforts in relation to Gaza, according to the sources.
