Türkiye to get back money paid to US for F-35 fighter jets
Türkiye will get back its money paid for the purchase of F-35 fighter jets from the US.
This was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in an interview with Hürriyet newspaper.
“We gave money for the F-35, we contributed, we will get our money back. Our exit from this system was the driving force to accelerate our own production, but CAATSA is wrong,” he said.
In April 2021, the Pentagon reported that the United States had excluded Türkiye from the F-35 aircraft production program for the purchase of Russian S-400 air defence systems.
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has said the country is not concerned about the United States' refusal to sell F-35 fighter jets to Ankara and Washington's reaction to the purchase of defence systems.
