Moscow, Tashkent coordinate on energy, industry, strategic alliance
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a phone conversation to discuss key international issues and measures to further strengthen strategic and allied ties between Moscow and Tashkent, the Kremlin reported.
“The leaders conducted a detailed exchange of views on pressing international issues, including the conflict in the Middle East and the situation in Ukraine. They agreed to continue active cooperation to comprehensively bolster the Russian-Uzbek strategic partnership and alliance,” the statement said.
During the call, the presidents also reviewed joint projects, including the commencement of concrete pouring at the site of a Russian-designed nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan. Major initiatives in nuclear energy, industry, and transportation were highlighted as areas of priority.
“In particular, it was noted with satisfaction that a ceremony was held today to start concrete works at the Russian-designed nuclear power plant site in Uzbekistan, and on March 16, the third copper processing plant at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex was launched, with equipment supplied by leading Russian engineering enterprises,” the Kremlin said.
