Türkiye, US discuss economic, humanitarian situation in Syria PHOTO

18 September 2024 09:18

Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yilmaz has discussed the situation in Syria with US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs John Bass.

“During the meeting, Syria related developments were discussed with participation from interagency delegations of the two sides,” Caliber.Az quotes the Foreign Ministry as saying on its X page.

According to a report by Turkish media, the meeting also saw an assessment of the security, political, economic and humanitarian situation in Syria.

The meeting emphasized the negative impact of rising tensions in the region, underscoring the importance of continued coordination between key international actors involved in resolving the conflict.

One of Türkiye’s primary concerns, raised during the talks, was the ongoing US support for Kurdish groups, which Ankara considers separatist terrorists under the pretext of fighting ISIS.

Türkiye reiterated its stance, calling for an end to this support, warning of the long-term risks posed to both Syrian and regional stability.
