Yerevan talks focus on unblocking regional routes, strengthening Armenia-Russia ties

Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan and his Russian counterpart Alexei Overchuk convened in Yerevan for a high-level meeting to review the progress of bilateral economic cooperation and to discuss the unblocking of regional transport communications.

The two officials, who serve as co-chairs of the Armenian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, began talks with a private session, followed by an expanded meeting involving additional members of their respective delegations, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

Discussions centered on the implementation of commitments outlined in the protocol of the 23rd session of the Intergovernmental Commission. The parties also reviewed current issues on the bilateral agenda, with particular emphasis on enhancing cooperation across key sectors including trade, transport, energy, customs, and integration within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

Grigoryan expressed appreciation to Overchuk and the Russian side for their swift assistance in facilitating grain shipments to Armenia via the Upper Lars checkpoint, a critical supply route for Armenian imports.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening economic ties and emphasized the strategic importance of unblocking regional transportation links. In this context, they underscored that any such initiatives must be carried out with full respect for the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction, and reciprocity among all involved nations.
