TUSAŞ to deliver first HÜRJET aircraft to Turkish Air Force in 2027, shares plans for next decade VIDEO
Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAŞ) General Manager Mehmet Demiroglu announced that the first delivery of the HÜRJET advanced jet trainer aircraft to the Turkish Air Force Command will take place at the beginning of 2027. The delivery target for Spain is set for 2028.
Demiroglu confirmed that the Turkish Air Force Command has placed an order for 16 HÜRJETs. Highlighting a recent agreement with Spanish companies led by Airbus, he stated that Spain selected HÜRJET to meet its own training aircraft needs, Caliber.Az reports.
He added that TUSAŞ aims to sign more than 100 contracts this year, including agreements with both Spain and the Turkish Air Force.
“We hope that Spain will open the door to NATO for us. We are trying to do our best to make this a NATO training aircraft,” he said.
Providing updates on the HÜRKUŞ basic training aircraft, Demiroglu said that 15 units have been built, five of which are currently in use. TUSAŞ plans to deliver seven more to interested countries this year. A total of 55 orders have been received for HÜRKUŞ, and 10 of those will be delivered within the year.
Looking ahead to 2034, Demiroglu projected the production of approximately 500 aircraft, including KAAN, HÜRJET, and HÜRKUŞ. Additionally, over 350 GÖKBEY, ATAK, ATAK-2 and similar platforms are planned, alongside nearly 600 ANKA-3, ATAK, ANKA-1, AKSUNGUR and similar UAVs and helicopters.

“Önümüzde 2034'e kadar ne var diye baktığımızda, yaklaşık 500 KAAN, HÜRJET ve HÜRKUŞ üretimi var. 350'nin üzerinde GÖKBEY, ATAK, ATAK-2 ve benzeri platformların üretimleri görünüyor.

Regarding the KAAN national combat aircraft, Demiroğlu stated that the second prototype is expected to take flight by the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026, with a third prototype to follow shortly after.
“We will have at least two KAANs flying in 2025, and our plan includes three KAANs flying together,” he said.
Following further tests, TUSAŞ plans to build three more KAAN prototypes, with deliveries to the Turkish Air Force scheduled to begin in blocks by the end of 2028 and early 2029.
“We have our musts. We have to make KAAN. We have to make KAAN's engine. The same goes for HÜRJET. When you can't get the system in the project, you have to do this,” said Demiroglu, adding that good news regarding the HÜRJET engine is expected imminently.

"Bizim olmazsa olmazlarımız var. KAAN'ı yapmak zorundayız. KAAN'ın motorunu da yapmak zorundayız. Aynı şey HÜRJET için de geçerli. Projede sistemi alamadığınızda bunu yapmak zorundasınız.

He also highlighted recent progress in weapons integration, saying, “We fired from the closed and internal chambered gun and ammunition chamber. This is something that has been done for the first time in Türkiye.”

Work with two prototypes continues, and mass production is expected to begin next year.
