Ukraine downs 90 drones, missile in overnight Russian assault Strikes reported across 11 areas
Ukrainian air defences intercepted the majority of aerial threats during a major overnight Russian attack, the Air Force reported on July 23.
A total of 90 Shahed-type drones and one cruise missile were brought down, though damage was recorded in multiple regions, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
The barrage included 103 explosive drones, several decoy UAVs, and four Iskander-K cruise missiles.
Launches were carried out from various points inside Russia—including Bryansk, Kursk, Shatalovo, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk—as well as from occupied parts of Crimea.
Intercept operations covered vast areas of the country, with air defence units engaging targets over the north, south, east, and centre.
Despite the high interception rate, Ukrainian authorities confirmed that 13 drones and three missiles managed to hit sites in 11 separate locations. Debris from downed objects also caused damage in at least six areas.
Emergency teams have been deployed, and investigations are ongoing to assess the full scale of the destruction.
