Ukraine gets $3.9 billion in grants from US via World Bank
Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said that Ukraine received a $3.9 billion grant from the United States through the World Bank.
"This is the first tranche of direct budgetary support from the United States in 2024. In general, Ukraine will receive $7.8 billion of direct budgetary aid from the United States this year," he wrote on his Telegram channel, Caliber.Az reports.
The Ukrainian Finance Ministry, citing Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko, specified that the current grant will help the Ukrainian government "to reimburse priority expenditures of the social and humanitarian sphere without increasing the debt burden."
According to Shmyhal, the funds will help finance priority budget expenditures as salaries of teachers, medics and rescuers, and social allowances.
