Ukraine's top official: Geneva talks with US on peace proposal highly productive
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Chief of Staff, Andriy Yermak, said that negotiations in Geneva between Ukrainian and US representatives on November 23 were productive and constructive.
According to him, the talks focused on the US peace proposal and were conducted in an atmosphere of mutual respect, highlighting both sides’ commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace, Caliber.Az reports via Yermak’s statement.
Yermak indicated that the discussions demonstrated significant progress in aligning positions and identifying clear next steps. Both Ukraine and the United States reaffirmed that any future agreement must fully respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and ensure a lasting peace. Following the meeting, an updated framework document on peace issues was prepared.
The Ukrainian delegation expressed gratitude to the United States and President Donald J. Trump for their commitment to ending the war and saving lives. Ukraine and the US agreed to continue working intensively on joint proposals in the coming days and to maintain close contact with European partners as the process advances.
Final decisions on the framework document will be made by the presidents of both countries. Both sides confirmed their readiness to continue collaborating to ensure Ukraine’s security, stability, and recovery.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he had made good progress in talks about the draft US plan to end the war in Ukraine.
"So I think the takeaway from it is, I think this is a very, very meaningful, I would say, probably best meeting and day we've had so far in this entire process, going back to when we first came to office in January," Rubio told reporters.
