Ukraine's Zelenskyy nominates new premier, foreign minister amid Cabinet reshuffle PHOTO
Ukraine is moving closer to forming a new government, as the Verkhovna Rada Committee on State Power Organization has endorsed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s proposal to appoint Yulia Svyrydenko as the country’s next Prime Minister.
As MP Yaroslav Zheleznak said on Telegram, 16 committee members voted in favour of Svyrydenko’s nomination, while four abstained.
Svyrydenko, currently serving as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, has been a close ally of President Zelenskyy and a central figure in managing Ukraine’s economic policy during wartime.
In parallel, Zelenskyy has also nominated Andriy Sybiha to serve as Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs in the new cabinet. Sybiha, who currently serves as a deputy head of the Presidential Office, is set to replace Dmytro Kuleba in the role.
According to Ukrainian media, the draft resolution on Sybiha’s appointment was officially registered in the Verkhovna Rada on July 17 under the title: “Draft resolution on the appointment of A.I. Sybiha as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.”
