Ukraine says Russia launched over 60 drones despite announced ceasefire PHOTO
On the night of May 8, Russian forces reportedly launched a large-scale drone attack against Ukraine, using 67 unmanned aerial vehicles despite a previously announced ceasefire period, according to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
The AFU said the attack involved strike drones of the “Shahed”, “Gerbera”, and “Italmas” types, as well as decoy drones of the “Parody” type.

Ukrainian air defences reportedly engaged the incoming drones using aviation units, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare systems, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups.
According to preliminary data released by the AFU as of 08:00, 56 drones were shot down or suppressed in Ukraine’s southern and eastern regions. However, 11 strike drones reportedly hit targets at eight locations, while debris from intercepted drones fell at seven additional sites.
The reported attack comes amid a ceasefire period announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin in connection with commemorations of the 81st anniversary of the victory in the Second World War, which was expected to last until May 10.
