Ukraine secures new defence commitments after Ramstein meeting
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced significant outcomes from the latest meeting in the Ramstein format, stating that agreements reached with partner nations are already being implemented.
Zelenskyy said Ukraine’s Minister of Defence, Mykhailo Fedorov, has just delivered a report outlining the current situation and progress achieved.
Sharing a post on his official Telegram channel, he mentioned that there was a clear understanding of their needs in air defence and in joint weapons production, Caliber.Az reports.
“The key is that every announced commitment is fulfilled fully and on time. A decision has been confirmed on new contributions to the PURL program from five partners,” he wrote.
Zelenskyy thanked Germany and other partners for continuing to cooperate on air defence and capabilities for Ukrainian deep-strike operations.
“I thank the United Kingdom for its ongoing work on supplying the necessary drones, and we must continue to develop joint capabilities. Norway—more than $500 million to equip brigades with drones, as well as $150 million to strengthen our logistics. The Netherlands—over €200 million for unmanned systems,” he noted.
The Ukrainian leader expressed his gratitude to Spain for its tangible readiness to work within the European SAFE program, which will allow us to scale up our joint defense capabilities.
He thanked Canada for further strengthening specific defence areas.
Zelenskyy said Belgium would allocate additional funds for the supply of shells and for enhancing our air defence.
“I am grateful to Lithuania and Estonia for their contributions to the PURL program,” Zelenskyy added.
