Ukraine starts assembling NATO-standard assault rifles
One of the enterprises of Ukrainian Defence Industry has begun assembling NATO-standard BREN-2 rifles under a license from Česká zbrojovka.
Licensed assembly of BREN-2 rifles started in November 2024 at one of the enterprises of the Ukrainian Defence Industry Joint Stock Company , Caliber.Az reports citing Ukrainian sources.
This marks a practical continuation of our cooperation with Česká zbrojovka, a subsidiary of Colt CZ (Czech Republic).
The agreement with the Czech partners currently focuses on localizing the assembly process. In the future, full-scale production of NATO-standard assault rifles will be established in Ukraine.
Oleh Hulyak, Director General of Ukroboronprom, noted that this partnership with the Czech company is a significant step toward integrating Ukraine’s domestic defence industry into NATO’s industrial supply chains.
In addition to assembling rifles, German defence company Rheinmetall has recently completed the construction of its first military plant in Ukraine. Four more facilities are also being developed, focusing on the production of military equipment, munitions, and drones.
