Ukrainian drone commander shares footage of strike on vessel with Azerbaijani sailors VIDEO
The commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces (USF), Robert Brovdy, known by the call sign "Madyar," has confirmed that Ukrainian drones carried out strikes against vessels operating in the Sea of Azov, following reports that five Azerbaijani nationals were killed in an attack on cargo ships in the area.
In a statement published on his Telegram channel, Brovdy said that unmanned aerial systems targeted five vessels during the night of June 5 in the ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk, as well as in coastal waters of territories controlled by Russia, Caliber.Az reports.
"The 'birds' of the UAS struck five vessels operating illegally during the night of 5 June in the ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk and in the coastal waters of the temporarily occupied territories," Brovdy wrote.
He added that the operation was carried out by Ukraine's Special Operations Forces and targeted cargo ships in ports along the northern coast of the Sea of Azov.
Earlier, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that five Azerbaijani citizens had been killed and three others injured following a reported drone attack on two foreign cargo vessels, Natra and Zirkon, in the Taganrog Bay of the Sea of Azov.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Aykhan Hajizada said the two ships carried a total of 25 Azerbaijani nationals among their crews, although neither vessel was Azerbaijani-owned.
