Ukrainian president says Russia committed to continued hostilities
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Russia has no desire to end the war and is committed to continuing its military campaign against Ukraine.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Zelenskyy emphasized that recent Russian attacks make it clear that Moscow is pursuing a path of prolonged aggression, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
The Ukrainian leader pointed to the intensified frequency of Russian strikes, including a massive overnight attack on September 3, as evidence that the Kremlin has dismissed any serious consideration of peace.
“This is a clear signal that Russia rejects any attempts to end the war and wants to continue hostilities. We must assume that this is currently the main scenario for Russia,” Zelenskyy said.
The president warned that such attacks have now become routine, with Russia launching several large-scale assaults per week across Ukrainian territory. These include missile strikes, drone incursions, and artillery bombardments that continue to inflict both civilian and military casualties.
The Ukrainian president reiterated his country's resolve to defend its sovereignty and called on international partners to maintain and expand military and humanitarian support. He also thanked Denmark for its continued assistance and solidarity, particularly in providing defence systems and reconstruction aid.
