UNESCO-listed Icherisheher turns spotlight on Karabakh’s cultural legacy PHOTO
A cultural festival highlighting the heritage of Karabakh has opened in Icherisheher, bringing together exhibitions, performances and traditional crafts under the theme “Cultural Map of Karabakh — the Voice of Every District”.
The opening ceremony was held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, which said the initiative is aimed at promoting the region’s cultural heritage, strengthening national spiritual values, and showcasing Karabakh’s artistic and historical potential, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The programme features an exhibition dedicated to Karabakh, live musical performances, displays of traditional craftsmanship, presentations of national cuisine, and a series of interactive masterclasses involving local artisans.
Speaking at the event, Rufat Mahmud, Chairman of the State Historical-Architectural Reserve “Icherisheher”, said Karabakh occupies a distinctive place in Azerbaijan’s national memory, adding that such cultural initiatives are vital for preserving heritage and ensuring its transmission to future generations.
The festival continued with a broader artistic programme and concert performances, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the cultural traditions, music and crafts of Karabakh’s various districts.
