US delegation launches TRIPP project site assessments in Armenia
A US delegation from the engineering and consulting firm AECOM has arrived in Armenia to begin site assessment work for the TRIPP project on behalf of the US Department of State’s Global Infrastructure and Investment Partnership Fund.
The visit was announced by the US Embassy in Armenia, according to Armenian media cited by Caliber.Az.
The initial phase of work will include a feasibility study as well as the preparation of proposals for the construction of a railway and other infrastructure facilities. These projects are intended to support Armenia’s long-term economic growth, strengthen transport infrastructure, and promote regional integration.
TRIPP is a US-backed initiative aimed at establishing a transport and economic corridor linking Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and Europe. The project emerged from diplomatic efforts by US President Donald Trump to encourage regional stability and cooperation, particularly following his meeting on August 8, 2025, in Washington with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
That summit, which brought Armenia and Azerbaijan together under US mediation, laid the groundwork for TRIPP by outlining plans for seamless transport connections and deeper economic integration across the region.
The initiative envisions a comprehensive network of railways, highways, and logistics hubs to facilitate the movement of goods, energy, and people from Central Asia through Azerbaijan and Armenia and onward to Europe. In addition to improving logistics, the corridor is expected to boost investment, expand trade, and strengthen economic ties among participating countries, contributing to regional development and long-term stability.
