US senators visit Ukraine's Dnipro amid ongoing Russian attacks
A delegation of US congressmen has arrived in Dnipro, Ukraine, comprising nearly a dozen advisers, assistants, and chief staffers of American senators and representatives from multiple states.
The visit was coordinated with the support of UNHCR specialists, Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov stated.
The primary purpose of the trip was to observe firsthand the situation in the city and surrounding region amid the ongoing conflict.
During the visit, American representatives received detailed briefings on the local conditions. Officials emphasized that the external appearance — functioning public services and civilians on the streets — does not fully convey the severity of life in Dnipro. Daily life continues under wartime conditions, the scale of which Europe has not witnessed since World War II.
“Because Dnipro, over which, for the first time in human history, an intercontinental ballistic missile ‘Oreshnik’ was launched, almost daily has to face the consequences of continued Russian shelling,” Filatov said.
The discussions also focused on key issues such as energy resilience, support for internally displaced persons, assistance for Ukrainian veterans, and other social initiatives aimed at sustaining the city and its residents during the war.
