US to reimburse Czech Republic's military aid to Ukraine

The United States will provide the Czech Republic with an additional $200 million for army modernisation as partial compensation for Russia-bombed military equipment the republic donated to Ukraine.

The announcement was voiced by the US Ambassador to Prague Bijan Sabet, according to the Czech News Agency (CTK).

"These funds are intended to build the capacity of our Czech allies to deter and defend against the increased threat from Russia, as well as to replace the military capabilities that the Czech Republic has provided or will provide to Ukraine," Sabet said.

The new aid package for the Czech Republic will be in addition to the $106 million the US provided last autumn.
