US: Two dead after plane crash near Hicks Airfield in Fort Worth

13 October 2025 09:14

Two people were killed after a twin-engine aircraft crashed near Hicks Airfield in Tarrant County on October 12, igniting multiple fires and damaging several semi-trucks, authorities confirmed.

According to the Fort Worth Fire Department (FWFD), the crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the 12700 block of North Saginaw Boulevard, near Avondale, just off Business 287. The aircraft, identified as a King Air twin-engine plane, had departed from Alliance Airport shortly before the crash, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

The impact caused several tractor trailers to catch fire, sparking grass fires in the surrounding area. Firefighters managed to contain the flames within 35 minutes, bringing the situation under control by 2:11 p.m. Officials estimate that at least ten semi-trucks were damaged.

FWFD deployed 10 firetrucks, 14 support vehicles, and three ambulances to the scene. Once the fire was contained, command of the incident was transferred to Tarrant County Fire.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the cause of the crash. Authorities have not yet confirmed how many people were aboard the plane at the time.

Several neighbouring fire departments assisted in the response, including Haslet, Lake Worth, Saginaw, Newark, Eagle Mountain, and Blue Mound Fire Departments, as well as the Tarrant County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Business 287 was shut down in both directions as emergency crews worked to extinguish the flames and secure the area. Motorists were advised to avoid the vicinity.
