Uzbekistan, Türkiye sign strategic partnership agreements in Ankara
Following the fourth meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council held in Ankara, the presidents of Uzbekistan and Türkiye, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, signed a broad package of bilateral documents. The key outcomes included a Joint Statement and a decision outlining specific mechanisms of cooperation within the framework of a comprehensive strategic partnership.
According to Caliber.Az, citing local media, in addition to political declarations, the two sides approved a number of practical agreements covering a wide range of areas — from security and the economy to social and humanitarian spheres. In particular, agreements were reached on cooperation in military medicine, healthcare, and education, as well as on issues related to the return of labour migrants.
A substantial portion of the documents focused on economic cooperation. Agreements were signed on the development of international transport corridors, support for special economic zones, and the expansion of cooperation in the mining sector.
Special attention was also given to security and culture. The parties approved a cooperation program between the foreign ministries for 2026–2027 and a cultural cooperation plan. Agreements were also reached on information exchange in the field of nuclear and radiation safety.
In addition, the religious authorities of the two countries formalised their cooperation through a separate protocol, highlighting the close spiritual and cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
