Zelenskyy hails EU’s €90 billion loan as strategic victory for Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has hailed the European Union’s decision to provide a €90 billion loan as a significant victory for Ukraine, underscoring both its financial and strategic implications for the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Polish President Karol Nawrocki in Warsaw, Zelenskyy emphasized that, without this funding, Ukraine would face “very difficult and challenging” circumstances, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
“For us, today this is an important victory. In any case, this amount is linked to reparations from Russia. These are important steps: the fact that European leaders found such a format, and that our team worked with Europe to achieve a positive decision—this strengthens us,” Zelenskyy said, highlighting the collaborative efforts that led to the agreement.
The Ukrainian president also framed the EU’s support as a clear message to Moscow. “There is no point in continuing the war, because we are financially supported and therefore will not collapse on the front line,” Zelenskyy asserted.
Beyond its military implications, Zelenskyy stressed that the EU’s decision sends a strong positive signal to Ukrainian society, bolstering public confidence in continued international backing and reinforcing the country’s resilience amid ongoing challenges.
