Zelenskyy sacks Ukraine's ambassador to UK
Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed the Ukrainian ambassador to the UK, following an alleged spat over UK weapons supply.
The presidential order dismissing Vadym Prystaiko, who has been in post since 2020, did not give a reason, but said he has also been removed as Ukraine’s representative to the International Maritime Organisation, iNews reports.
Mr. Prystaiko was reportedly threatened with the sack after accusing President Zelenskyy of “unhealthy sarcasm” after he mocked British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace at a NATO summit last week.
Mr. Wallace had hit back at Ukraine for not showing enough gratitude in its demands for further weaponry, insisting the UK was not an “Amazon” delivery service.
In return, the Ukrainian president appeared to ridicule him, saying: “We can wake up in the morning and thank the minister. Let him write to me and tell me how to thank him.”
The ambassador said he “didn’t believe this sarcasm was healthy,” according to The Sun.
