Zelenskyy says Russia smashed ceasefire with continued frontline assaults
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Russia has continued active combat operations in violation of ceasefire attempts, and strikes following what he described as massive attacks on Ukrainian cities and communities, including Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Kramatorsk.
In a statement on Telegram, Zelenskyy said Russia rejected Ukraine’s attempts to preserve civilian lives, Caliber.Az reports.
According to him, fighting continues across all key frontline sectors, and since the start of today alone, the Russian army has carried out nearly 30 assault operations.
“More than 20 air strikes have been recorded with over 70 aerial bombs used just overnight and this morning,” he noted.
Zelenskyy emphasised that during the night, the Russian army also carried out drone strikes using various types of UAVs, and that Ukraine’s Defence Forces neutralised nearly ninety attack drones.
“There were also missile strikes. In total, as of 10 a.m., the Russian army has committed 1,820 violations of the ceasefire — shelling, assault attempts, air strikes, and drone use,” he stressed.
Zelenskyy thanked Ukrainian soldiers for defending their positions.
“Ukraine clearly stated it would act in response, taking into account persistent Russian appeals via media and social networks to establish a ceasefire during Moscow’s parade period. It is obvious to all normal people that a full-scale war and daily killings are not an appropriate time for public ‘celebrations.’ Russia must end its war, which is ongoing,” he added.
In his words, even with internet shutdowns and restricted communications for most Russians, it is clear that their leadership can leave the bunker and choose peace.
“Our diplomatic proposals are on Russia’s table, and the only requirement is Russia’s readiness to move toward real peace. Today, we state that Russia has violated the ceasefire regime. Further steps will be determined after evening reports from our military and intelligence services,” he concluded.
