Azerbaijani taekwondo player grabs bronze in Türkiye UPDATED

Azerbaijani taekwondo athlete Farida Azizova has reached the final of the fifth Islamic Solidarity Games in Türkiye’s Konya city.

The athlete in the weight category up to 67 kg gained a victory over Morocco’s athlete Safia Salih in the semifinals, Report informs.

Thus, Azizova may grab at least a silver medal.

Azerbaijani taekwondo player has won a bronze medal at the fifth Islamic Solidarity Games in Türkiye’s Konya city.

Patimat Abakarova lost to the Turkish athlete scoring 2:0, Trend reports on August 10.

She had previously gained a victory over Nigerian rival Farida Sauman by knockout.

The competitions will last until August 18, 2022.

In total, athletes from 56 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation are taking part in the Islamic Solidarity Games. Competitions are being held at 14 sports complexes in Konya. Some 355 medals will be awarded to athletes.

In general, Azerbaijani athletes have one "gold", one "silver" and two "bronze".
