Official: Armenia impedes sending of UNESCO mission to Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev has said that Azerbaijan had repeatedly invited a UNESCO technical mission to the liberated territories, but Armenia hindered it.
He made the remarks at an international scientific conference on "The role of UNESCO conventions in the protection of cultural property and aspects of their application" jointly organized by the Azerbaijan National Commission for UNESCO, International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) Azerbaijan National Committee and ADA University Institute of Development and Diplomacy, Report informs.
The deputy minister recalled that the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) sent a technical mission to Azerbaijan’s liberated territories earlier this year.
Mammadguliyev noted that the Azerbaijani side supports sending a UNESCO mission to assess the destruction of cultural and historical monuments in the liberated territories.
"We want Armenia not to hinder this process," he added.
