Heydar Aliyev International Airport wins prestigious Skytrax award

The Azerbaijani Heydar Aliyev International Airport based in the capital Baku has once again won two categories at once in one of the most prestigious industry awards Skytrax World Airport Awards 2023.

The award ceremony was held on March 15 in the passenger terminal of the EXPO in Amsterdam, the airport’s press service told Caliber.Az.

Baku Airport has been recognised as the best regional airport in Central Asia/CIS by the World Airport Awards 2023.  It also won the Best Airport Staff in Central Asia and the CIS category for the second consecutive time.

"Today we once again feel proud of our airport, which has once again confirmed its high status by winning two nominations in the prestigious Skytrax Awards at once. This significant recognition is a great honour for us all. Due to the direct attention and constant care of President Ilham Aliyev, the civil aviation of Azerbaijan is rapidly developing, reaching new great success in the international arena. Baku airport will continue to provide high-quality services that meet the highest international requirements and standards," Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) President Jahangir Asgarov said.

World Airport Awards is the most prestigious award in the global airport industry. The survey assesses the quality of passenger service at the airport and the effectiveness of key indicators - check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, and security/passport control at boarding.

Baku airport is the base airport for Azerbaijani airlines and has the full infrastructure to provide services to passengers and airlines according to the strictest global requirements and norms.
