Moroccan princess visits Azerbaijani Educational Complex, promotes heritage, education PHOTO
On May 7, as part of her official visit to Azerbaijan, President of the Foundation for the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage of Rabat, Princess of the Kingdom of Morocco Lalla Hasna visited Educational Complex No. 132-134 in Baku, where she explored the school’s History Museum to learn about Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage.
The event brought together high-ranking officials and dignitaries, including Azerbaijan’s Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, Deputy Minister of Culture Murad Huseynov, Head of the International Relations Department of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, MP Soltan Mammadov, Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication Mohammed Mehdi Bensaid, Morocco’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohamed Adil Embarch, and Secretary General of the Rabat Cultural Heritage Preservation Foundation Nouzha Alaoui, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
In his remarks, Minister Amrullayev announced the launch of a new school twinning program between Baku’s Educational Complex No. 132-134—part of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network—and Oum El Banine School in Rabat. He emphasized that the initiative marks the beginning of deeper cultural and educational cooperation based on mutual values and heritage preservation.
The programme, developed in collaboration with the Foundation for the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage of Rabat, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and relevant Azerbaijani ministries, will extend to five schools in both Baku and Rabat starting next academic year. Amrullayev noted that the project aims to inspire students to explore, preserve, and promote cultural heritage while fostering meaningful intercultural dialogue.
As part of the visit, students presented their educational project “Discovering My Heritage – Baku”, which serves as the cornerstone of the sister school partnership. The event also featured a video message from students at Oum El Banine School in Rabat.
Princess Lalla Hasna toured classrooms, interacted with students, viewed their presentations.
The visit concluded with an exhibition of student artworks depicting landmarks of Rabat and Baku, a musical performance, and a commemorative group photo.
