Azerbaijan, Türkiye strengthen scientific ties with new lab network deal
The Azerbaijan Metrology Institute and the National Metrology Institute of Türkiye have signed a new agreement to establish a network of laboratories in a significant step toward bolstering bilateral cooperation in the field of metrology.
The agreement was officially signed by Khamis Seyranov, Head of the Azerbaijan Metrology Institute, and Mustafa Çetintaş, Head of National Metrology Institute of Türkiye, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The collaboration includes plans to set up ten new laboratories at Azerbaijan Metrology Institute, alongside the modernisation of four existing facilities. The new laboratories will focus on calibration and measurements in critical fields such as gas and liquid calorimetry, gas metrology, and more. The agreement also includes the provision of advanced equipment, the implementation of cutting-edge software solutions, and the development of specialised training programmes for metrology professionals.
The signing ceremony, which took place in Baku, was attended by key dignitaries, including Elnur Baghirov, Chairman of the Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control State Agency under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Türkiye’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology, Muhammet Muhammet Kasım Gönüllü, Chairman of the Azerbaijani parliament’s Committee Azer Amiraslanov, Head of the Presidential Administration’s Department Vusal Shikhaliyev, Head of the Cabinet of Ministers’ Department Elshan Hajizade, and Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Birol Akgun.
During the event, the importance of aligning Azerbaijan’s metrology infrastructure with international standards was underscored. The new network is expected to enhance the competitiveness of Azerbaijani products on global markets and provide a significant boost to the country’s export potential. Both parties expressed optimism about the continued success of their cooperation, particularly in the realm of metrology.
