Protest rally starts in central Yerevan

A protest rally has started on Republic Square in the centre of Yerevan.

The rally participants are demanding the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Over 2,000 people have already gathered in the square, near the building of the Armenian government. Armenian residents continue coming to the rally, TASS reports.

The protesters are chanting anti-government slogans.

The Armenian National Security Service has recently announced that eight people suspected of plotting an armed seizure of power in the country were detained.
