Media: Turkish president cancels his participation in Granada summit
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has cancelled his participation in the informal summit of the heads of state and government of the European Union, which was scheduled to discuss the situation in Garabagh due to illness.
“Erdogan cancelled his participation in the most important summit of the European political community,” the Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet said.
According to the newspaper, the Turkish leader will not go to Spain because he has caught a cold.
Meanwhile, several media outlets have reported that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has refused to go to Spain, where a meeting was supposed to be held with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the presence of the president of the European Council, the leaders of France and Germany.
The reason is France’s destructive position. Paris and Berlin were against Türkiye’s participation in the meeting, Caliber.Az’s sources confirmed this information.
Under such circumstances, Azerbaijan refused to hold talks with Armenia.
A meeting between President Aliyev and Prime Minister Pashinyan was planned to be held on the fringes of the upcoming summit of the European Political Community in Granada, Spain, on October 5.
