2024 Olympic triathlon training swim canceled in France due to poor water quality

The Organising Committee for the 2024 Olympic Games has announced the cancellation of the triathletes' training swim in France scheduled for July 28 due to poor water quality in the Seine.

“The Organising Committee for the Olympic Games, in collaboration with World Triathlon and local organisations, has jointly decided to cancel part of the triathlon introductory event due to insufficiently safe water quality levels,” Caliber.Az reports citing the Russian media.

The organisers are confident that the triathlon competitions scheduled for July 30 and 31 will proceed as planned.

The official opening ceremony was held in France on July 26, and the Games will run through August 11.

The initial medal events were held on July 27. The Closing Ceremonies will be held after the final events August 11.

Breaking, the competitive form of break dancing, is the only new sport that has been added by Paris organisers. There are two breaking events, one each for men and women, with 16 dancers in each event.

Four of the sports added to the Tokyo Olympics — skateboarding, sport climbing, surfing and 3x3 basketball — were received enthusiastically and return this year.
