Azerbaijan’s Parliament speaker meets with Secretary General of Council of Europe PHOTO

Speaker of Azerbaijani Milli Majlis (Parliament) Sahiba Gafarova has met with Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić.

The sides exchanged views on the current cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe (CoE), the press service of the Milli Majlis told Report.

Secretary General Burić described Azerbaijan as a valuable member of the Council of Europe. She underlined the Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation’s active involvement in the activities of PACE.

Speaker  Gafarova provided detailed information about the ongoing processes in the region. The Parliament speaker highlighted the works done to restore the liberated territories, Azerbaijan's initiatives to normalise relations with Armenia, as well as to sign a peace treaty.

Burić in turn emphasised that the Council of Europe is ready to contribute to the confidence-building processes between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
