Heads of CIS security agencies meet in Bishkek

The 54th meeting of the Council of Heads of Security and Special Services of CIS member states convened in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyz Republic, on May 24.

Colonel General Ali Nagiyev, head of the State Security Service of Azerbaijan, participated in the event, Caliber.Az reports citing the SSS's press service.

The meeting's agenda focused on exchanging information to combat international terrorism and religious extremism. Additionally, discussions centred on identifying and suppressing the activities of individuals involved in armed conflicts as part of criminal groups undergoing combat training abroad. Against the backdrop of geopolitical tensions and complex global processes, participants highlighted the increasing terrorist threat and escalating cases of cybercrime, underscoring the pressing need for enhanced international security measures.

Furthermore, the imperative to unite efforts in countering alarming phenomena, such as intelligence and sabotage operations by entities representing specific interests within the CIS region, transnational organized crime, human trafficking, and drug smuggling, was emphasized. Participants underscored the importance of jointly and effectively combating these challenges by mobilizing available resources.

The event included keynote addresses on crucial topics, comprehensive deliberations, and the signing of several significant documents to advance cooperation further.
