Portuguese Fernando Santos named head coach of Azerbaijan national football squad

Renowned expert Fernando Santos has been appointed the head coach of the Azerbaijan national football team and a long-term contract with Santos is planned.
According to the official website of AFFA, "Considering that the process will not be short-term, but will cover a certain period, the goal of forming a competitive team and achieving successful performance in the qualifying stage of EURO 2028 has been set before the Portuguese specialist," Caliber.Az reports, citing offsideplus.az.
The new head coach, Fernando Santos, will join the national team camp with his assistants, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerisport.com, adding that three Azerbaijani assistants will also be part of the coaching team: Arif Asadov and Kamran Agayev will continue in their roles, while the third assistant will be announced later.
