An appeal has been sent to UNESCO in connection with the Tepebashi city quarter in Yerevan.

This was announced at the presentation of the book "The fate of the Tepebashi quarter - the last surviving monument of the Azerbaijani national cultural and historical heritage in Iravan: the destruction of the heritage of the Azerbaijani people in Armenia and the destruction of historical traces", published as a result of research work, Report informed on July 5.

It was noted that a group of scientists and public representatives of Azerbaijan appealed to UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay in connection with the process of cultural genocide perpetrated by Armenia against the national, cultural, and historical heritage of the Azerbaijani people in Yerevan, including the Tepebashi quarter located in this city.

The appeal, which was signed by 102 well-known scientists and public figures, notes that on February 4, 2022, following the meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan, France, Armenia and the head of the Council of the European Union in video format, planned to send UNESCO missions to Armenia and Azerbaijan, Report informed in another publication.

"The 9th session of General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage kicked off today [July 5] at UNESCO Headquarters," the official Twitter account of the Permanent Delegation of Azerbaijan to UNESCO wrote.

It added that Azerbaijan participates in discussions on important topics for the safeguarding of living heritage.
