The American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan (AmCham Azerbaijan) held a traditional business lunch on July 5.
Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev was a special guest at the meeting, along with heads of business circles and private companies, Caliber.Az reports per the press service of the Health Ministry.
AmCham Azerbaijan President Nargiz Nasrullaeva-Muduroglu, who opened the event, highly appreciated the constant interaction and willingness of the Health Ministry to engage in dialogue with the Chamber.
According to her, Azerbaijan has created a favourable business environment for effective public-private partnerships, including in the healthcare sector. It was stressed that the number of private medical institutions and entities engaged in private medical practice is growing.
"We hope that our mutually beneficial cooperation with the Health Ministry will further improve the business environment in Azerbaijan,” she added.
In turn, AmCham Azerbaijan Executive Director Gulnara Aslanbeyli noted the constant activity of the Chamber to support and promote the interests of foreign and local businesses in Azerbaijan. Aslanbeyli stressed the importance of effective dialogue and successful cooperation with government agencies in this direction.
Addressing the event Health Minister Teymur Musayev noted that large-scale reforms have been conducted in recent years in Azerbaijan’s healthcare system based on modern principles, using innovative technological achievements and advanced management methods.
"Successful healthcare reform is based on three key principles. The first is the development of human capital. The second is the digitalisation of healthcare as the main driver of all fundamental changes. And thirdly, it is the new economics of the healthcare system and the financing of healthcare.
According to him, in order to improve the principles of accessibility in public services, to strengthen the human factor, to minimise the "citizen-officer" communication, the transition to a broad platform of digitalisation in the health sector of the country using the capabilities of modern information and communication technologies was carried out.
The minister stressed that targeted and innovative projects are implemented in the direction of building the capacity of medical personnel with modern vision and international experience in domestic health care, conducting successful exchanges in this area, achieving inclusive development in medical education and science.
Musayev also noted that there is a wide potential for the development of public-private partnerships in healthcare in the country. According to him, Azerbaijan has done important work in the field of public-private partnership in order to attract private investments to the healthcare sector and, as a result, to expand and improve the quality of services.
“We see the leading role of the private sector as an important partner not only in contingency management, but also in the day-to-day delivery of health care. Private sector involvement in health care should be promoted as ensuring efficiency in service delivery, increasing access to information technology, and co-funding innovative projects,” he added.
As part of the business lunch, members of the Chamber of Commerce made a presentation.
At the end of the meeting, opinions were exchanged and questions were answered by the participants of the event.
