Armenia anticipates significant growth in trade with Russia by end of 2024

18 November 2024 22:40

Vice President of the Armenian Parliament Hakob Arshakyan has forecasted a notable increase in trade turnover between Armenia and Russia by the end of 2024.

Speaking to journalists at Zvartnots International Airport, where he saw off Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Yuri Vorobyov, Arshakyan highlighted the positive trends in bilateral economic relations, Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media.

Vorobyov’s visit was part of the ongoing session of the inter-parliamentary commission between the two countries.

"In the first half of this year, trade turnover between Armenia and Russia grew 2.5 times," Arshakyan noted, adding that this growth is expected to continue through the end of the year.

"This positive trend is fostering stronger relations, boosting business, and enhancing cooperation between our nations," the Parliament vice president added.

Arshakyan further emphasized that the bilateral ties between Armenia and Russia remain strong, with ongoing efforts to expand regional cooperation. He expressed optimism that the relationship would continue to flourish in the future, despite occasional sensitive issues.

"We are striving to create an atmosphere of cooperation and understanding, even when discussing complex or contentious topics," Arshakyan said.

The Parliament vice president also mentioned that the 39th session of the joint inter-parliamentary committee would take place in Sochi, further underscoring the ongoing efforts to deepen ties between the two countries.
