Armenia evaluates risks of potential withdrawal from CSTO FM says
Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has said that Armenia is carefully assessing all risks related to the decision to withdraw from the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO).
Mirzoyan made these remarks at Warsaw Security Forum, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"I believe we should all be more cautious. Stability must be a priority, and any process that may occur needs to be well-calculated and managed—particularly regarding risk management. This is not a straightforward issue," he responded when asked by the moderator about the possibility of Armenia exiting the CSTO.
Mirzoyan also emphasised that "Armenia has frozen its membership in the CSTO" and is "not looking to return to the relationships that existed before." "We do not see ourselves in a military alliance that is ineffective," he added.
Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that "the CSTO poses security threats to Armenia, its future existence, and sovereignty," noting that two member states of the organisation assisted Azerbaijan during the 44-day second Karabakh war.
