Armenia prioritises relations with Iran, PM says
During a meeting with Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has emphasised that strengthening ties with Iran is a key priority for his government.
Pashinyan expressed gratitude to Iran for its steadfast support for Armenia's territorial integrity and the inviolability of internationally recognised borders, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
In response, Aref reaffirmed Iran's full backing of Armenia's territorial sovereignty and its opposition to any border changes in the region. He also highlighted Iran's readiness to pursue multidimensional cooperation with Armenia.
The Armenian prime minister briefed Aref on the progress of peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and introduced the "Crossroads of Peace" project, aimed at restoring regional routes.
"Armenia is prepared to foster trade and economic relations with interested countries based on the principles of sovereignty, universal jurisdiction, equality, and reciprocity," Pashinyan said.
The meeting also addressed bilateral trade and economic relations, as well as cooperation in energy, infrastructure, road construction, and tourism. Both sides exchanged views on mutually relevant issues.
